York County House Republicans: Funding Awarded to York County Police for Recruitment

HARRISBURG – As police departments throughout the nation face officer shortages, two York County departments were awarded a combined $38,000 in Law Enforcement Recruitment grant funding, House Appropriations Republican chairman Seth Grove (R-Dover) and Reps. Kate Klunk (R-Hanover) and Joe D’Orsie (R-Manchester) announced.

“Keeping communities safe is one of our top priorities and ensuring there are enough police officers is an important part of public safety,” the representatives said. “The grants will help local departments recruit and train officers to protect residents.”

Northern York County Regional Police received $28,000 and Newberry Township Police received $10,000. The funding will be used to hire and train for vacant law enforcement positions in the departments.

The funding is through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. The grants aim to assist with Act 120 training and recruitment activities for police officers. Municipal officers are required to complete Act 120 training.
